§  American Express contracted with IBM Global Services to host its Web site, network servers, data storage, and help-desk support.  This is a utility-based service delivery project. The job of the Data Warehouse Project was to calculate payments based on actual usage of IT services rather than a charge-back fee. The project saves American Express "hundreds of millions of dollars" in IT savings over the life of the contract.

§  Installed and configured the DB2 database systems in multiple environments (z/OS and AIX). Also responsible for creating, maintaining, tuning, and backup/recovery of the databases (very large scale databases, e.g., 12 terabytes in size for the entire American Express enterprise). In the AIX environment, established the development, testing (sandbox), and production database systems for applications being built.

(4) Queries and data warehouses - Provided optimization changes to enhance performance of DB2 V8.
